Questions & Answers

Q: My dear friend recently passed on and his body was cremated.  Does his soul move on in the same way as someone whose body was buried?  Can he host another body at another time and place?A: Great questions.  I’ll bet your friend is smiling down at your continued curiosity and caring.  Kudos for saying ‘his body was cremated’ versus ‘he was cremated’.  His no-longer-needed earthly shell had as little to do with his real self as a sweater he wore in third grade.

It’s natural for people to focus on the human body since that’s what is seen in a mirror.  However, the earth-suit is much less than 1% of what he – and all people – really are.  Everything else continues: the energy, love, personality, sense of humor, preferences, memories, and much more.  None of that is affected by what happened to the physical form after bodily death. His consciousness is non-local; that means it survives death and is not limited by space-time restrictions.

Think about it this way . . . human history has often been very violent.  In addition to burial and cremation, the bodies of many people have been blown up, sunk underwater, eaten by animals, and destroyed in other gruesome ways.  From everything I know, it doesn’t matter to the person / soul who passed on what happens to the earthly shell.

Some cultures and religions say that it’s better to wait three days so the soul can separate fully from the body.  That may be optimal, but top mediums report that soul events are known six weeks or more ahead of what happens on earth.  Consciousness can travel at the speed of thought.  Clinical reports from near-death experiences and Life Between Lives sessions indicate the soul / life-force can immediately leave the body.  To learn more, see article #126 Can the Soul Exit the Body Before Severe Suffering and Death?

No matter what happened to his old earthly body, your friend’s energy / soul can manifest a different body if he visits earth or a similar place in the future.  While in ‘the afterlife’, he might want to have a physical body for certain activities and to welcome loved ones when they pass on.  He can also be in the energy / formless mode some of the time.  His consciousness / energy can manifest a body, or not, depending on his intentions and who he’s interacting with.

And, to answer ‘the bottom line’ concern behind questions like this, you will see him again and enjoy a joyful reunion.

Q: I’m reaching out in hope you can point me in the right direction for something I’m struggling with.  I have this terrible fear of death that brought me to you as I was researching the afterlife. I’ve branched out spiritually but, because of my strict Christian upbringing, constantly worry that I’ll go to hell for looking beyond the Bible.  But then that sounds crazy to me too. 

A: You are not alone with this concern.  Kudos for listening to your inner voice and realizing it is crazy that a unfathomably loving and caring Creator would punish people for trying to learn more about life.  Here’s a great litmus test for discerning if a religious teaching is true . . . if it scares people, it isn’t.
